Generally the explanations that are given for the motivation of these characters are pretty flimsy.
I mean, people, I'm sure, have had their parents killed in front of them always. I think that it would probably lead to a life in analysis and probably all sorts of personal problems.
It probably wouldn't lead you to become a bat-themed vigilante.
