Momento bizarro.

Though focusing exclusively on the contemporary Slovenian philosopher, Slavoj Zizek, as an eccentric individual prone to brilliant ranting, Zizek! presents an interesting paradox: that of the documentary filmmaker’s relationship to the subject. Twenty-seven year old director Astra Taylor, with her film debut, has managed to inject ample footage of Zizek ruminating on his couch, talking in the cab, in the park, and in lecture halls with her obvious crush on the man known for bringing Lacanian psychoanalytical theory to the masses. In the tradition of unlikely love stories, i.e. Harold & Maude, Astra follows Zizek around with a camera for a day-in-the-life portrait. During personal moments, Zizek generously displays his underwear drawer, for example, as he gives a lengthy explanation of how socialist/communist houses should remain tidy and sparse. During more lofty conceptual moments, or in academic settings, Zizek explains his thoughts on Lacan, Freud, Marx, and Stalin. Like the "direct cinema" of the Maysles Brothers and Errol Morris, Zizek! relies upon the inherent character of its subject for entertainment value, though the film will definitely help newcomers grasp Zizek's complex philosophical tenets. In this, Zizek! is not only an experimental love letter, but also a film that will give one's brain a serious workout.

Na capa do DVD: "The Elvis of cultural theory."

"... Their battles involve kung fu, bass solos, and the psychic powers Todd has because he's a vegan. ('You know how you only use ten percent of your brain? Well, it's because the other 90 percent is filled up with curds and whey!')"
Do review da Salon. Aí não deu pra aguentar. Comprei os três Scott Pilgrim.

Virgin Comics' focus is on the heroes and stories of tomorrow that are reflective of a planetary mind-shift - less John Wayne and the Wild West, more Neo and the Matrix.

But my father was Alfie, my mother was Isadora. I was unnaturally psychic in my teens, I made a boy fall off his bike and I burned down a whole school. My mother was crazy; she was in love with God. There I was at the altar about to marry someone else when my boyfriend hammered on the church glass at the back and we eloped together on a bus. My mother was furious. She'd slept with him too. The devil got me pregnant and a satanic sect made me go through with it. Then I fell in with a couple of outlaws and did me some talking to the sun. I said I didn't like the way he got things done. I had sex in the back of the old closing cinema. I used butter in Paris. I had a farm in Africa. I took off my clothes in the window of an apartment building and distracted the two police inspectors from watching for the madman on the roof who was trying to shoot the priest. I fell for an Italian. It was his moves on the dancefloor that did it. I knew what love meant. It meant never having to say you're sorry. It meant the man who drove the taxi would kill the presidential candidate, or the pimp.It was soft as an easy chair. It happened so fast. I had my legs bitten off by the shark. I stabbed the kidnapper, but so did everybody else, it wasn't just me, on the Orient Express.

(...)

I was born in a time of light, speed, celluloid. Downstairs was smoking. The balcony was non. It cost more money to sit in the balcony.

The kinematograph. The eidoloscope. The galloping tintypes. The silver screen. The flicks. The pictures. Up rose the smoke. Misty watercolour memories.

But it's all in the game and the way you play it, and you've got to play the game, you know.

I was born free, I've had the time of my life and for all we know I'm going to live forever.

Jack Bauer has killed 112 people over the five years of the show. Season 4, during which he dispatched 44 'hostiles', was his best ever; in the first season he managed a lacklustre 10.

Kiefer Sutherland heard that American college students use 24 as a drinking game, downing a shot every time Jack Bauer says 'damn it'. So he changed the script in one episode to have Jack say 'damn it' 14 times in one hour.

”Good evening, I’m Stan Lee,” said Ellis as he took the stage. “I invented Spider-Man. I wanted him to shoot webbing out his a** like a real spider. Steve Ditko got upset about it.”

"Nextwave is an absolute dissolution of the superhero genre. There’s nothing of worth in it whatsoever. It is explosions. It is people getting kinked. It is people getting kinked and then exploding.” To thunderous applause, Ellis then added, “I will fight anyone who says otherwise and afterwards, they will explode."

Several questions were asked about Ellis’ upcoming project for the AMC cable network and the differences between writing comics and writing for television. “I write comics drunk and that’s the big difference.”

Ellis was asked about his thoughts on scientology. “I don’t want to say anything,” said Ellis. “There might be a scientologist in this audience who will burn my house down and Tom Cruise will be standing naked on the ashes with a baby in each arm with three eyes and L. Ron Hubbard T-shirts.”

Parece que perdi um momento histórico...

Achei um "E! True Hollywood Story" dos Sopranos. Descobri muitas coisas.

Ele é Little Steven.
