Em Chapecó, Santa Catarina. Porque as coisas não saem encaixotadamente como a gente planeja. Então, quando o professor coordenador do Centro de Ciências da Comunicação e Artes da Unochapecó ligou há uns 10 dias com o convite, que incluía me mudar para cá, pelo menos por um semestre, senti que as coisas ficariam estranhas.

As aulas começam hoje de noite. Semana passada já ouvi gente chamando "Professor Érico". Momento bizarro. Eu devia ter dito "por favor, não me chama assim que eu me sinto importante", mas tava muito abobado pra responder.

Trinta horas, quatro disciplinas na Publicidade e Propaganda: Marketing e Publicidade, Atendimento e Planejamento, Comunicação Empresarial e Projeto Experimental em PP, mais orientação de projetos, estágios, trabalhos de conclusão.

Quanto tempo até os alunos descobrirem esse blog?

Though focusing exclusively on the contemporary Slovenian philosopher, Slavoj Zizek, as an eccentric individual prone to brilliant ranting, Zizek! presents an interesting paradox: that of the documentary filmmaker’s relationship to the subject. Twenty-seven year old director Astra Taylor, with her film debut, has managed to inject ample footage of Zizek ruminating on his couch, talking in the cab, in the park, and in lecture halls with her obvious crush on the man known for bringing Lacanian psychoanalytical theory to the masses. In the tradition of unlikely love stories, i.e. Harold & Maude, Astra follows Zizek around with a camera for a day-in-the-life portrait. During personal moments, Zizek generously displays his underwear drawer, for example, as he gives a lengthy explanation of how socialist/communist houses should remain tidy and sparse. During more lofty conceptual moments, or in academic settings, Zizek explains his thoughts on Lacan, Freud, Marx, and Stalin. Like the "direct cinema" of the Maysles Brothers and Errol Morris, Zizek! relies upon the inherent character of its subject for entertainment value, though the film will definitely help newcomers grasp Zizek's complex philosophical tenets. In this, Zizek! is not only an experimental love letter, but also a film that will give one's brain a serious workout.

A Lá Fora, minha coluna no Omelete, ganhou um irmãozinho: uma coluna com os lançamentos mais legais da semana na cultura pop dos EUA. Quadrinhos, músicas, DVDs, TV e cinema. Entra toda quarta-feira. A desta semana está aqui.

Ainda tá com problemas de design, mas isso deve ser resolvido. O título também é uma enjambração, e podia ser dissociado da coluna de quadrinhos. Ficar sem "lá fora". Estou aceitando sugestões.

It is people getting kinked and then exploding.” To thunderous applause, Ellis then added, “I will fight anyone who says otherwise and afterwards, they will explode."

Several questions were asked about Ellis’ upcoming project for the AMC cable network and the differences between writing comics and writing for television. “I write comics drunk and that’s the big difference.”

Ellis was asked about his thoughts on scientology. “I don’t want to say anything,” said Ellis. “There might be a scientologist in this audience who will burn my house down and Tom Cruise will be standing naked on the ashes with a baby in each arm with three eyes and L. Ron Hubbard T-shirts.”

Estou brincando de blog novo: Pow! Bang! Zoom! Wham! Comics are Mainstream. Em inglês, para exercício. E ainda em fase de testes.

Achei um "E! True Hollywood Story" dos Sopranos. Descobri muitas coisas. Uma das mais legais é que o Tony Sirico (que interpreta o Paulie Gualtieri) já foi presidiário, com uma folha que inclui assalto a mão armada. Virou ator meio sem querer nos anos 70, apareceu em uma cacetada de filmes do Woody Allen, e caiu em Sopranos, onde é simplesmente perfeito.

Mas a descoberta mais divertida foi sobre o outro capanga do Tony, Silvio, o melhor topete da televisão:

Steve Van Zandt, o ator, já foi guitarrista do Bruce Springsteen e tem carreira solo de roqueiro. Ele é Little Steven.

Ele também apresenta programas de rádio e tem esse lindo website.

Ah, e o Dominic Chianese - Junior, o tio do Tony - também tem carreira musical. É por isso que ele se põe a cantar nos funerais do seriado, de um jeito que quebra totalmente com o personagem.

Vendo os bastidores, esses seriados americanos parecem mais novela das 8 do que eu gostaria. Mas Sopranos está muito, muito boa. Acabei a quinta temporada, vi o episódio magnífico que é quase todo um sonho do Tony - faz qualquer coisa do David Lynch parecer criancice - e vou pegar a sexta aos poucos. TV bem escrita, quem diria. Não é à toa que perdi a paciência pra longa-metragens.
